This statuette in solid-cast bronze (height 17.2 cm) comes from Egypt and dates to the 26th–30th Dynasty (664–343 BC).

It depicts the goddess Isis nursing her son Horus, seated on her lap: an image that combines maternal protection with royal legitimacy. The goddess wears a long, tight-fitting dress and an elaborate headdress with uraei, cow’s horns, and a solar disk; the child, shown naked, wears the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt.

This motif, widespread in Egyptian art, became a powerful symbol of divine motherhood, later echoed in the Christian imagery of the Virgin and Child.

This 3D model was created in collaboration with the Museo Egizio in Turin with the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze.
