Book Presentation: “Mare Monstrum. Mystery and Wonder: Myths and Legends of the Mediterranean” by Paolo Giulierini
The MAEC is pleased to host, on Saturday 29 November 2025 at 4:30 PM, a special event with Paolo Giulierini, author of a fascinating journey through the myths, art and history of the Mediterranean.
In Mare Monstrum, extraordinary creatures and “monsters” in the ancient sense of the term re-emerge: marvels, prodigies and wondrous tales born along the shores of the civilizations that shaped our culture.
From Egypt to the Phoenicians, from the Greek world to the Etruscan and Roman one, the book gathers stories of travel, exploration, encounters and clashes between peoples, together with accounts of exotic flora and fauna, mysterious rites, recipes, objects and imaginary worlds.
